Do Unto Yourself

Director: Kat Rollinson

Ann has been in a lifelong abusive relationship with the one person she can never escape from: herself. She is so tormented by her voice of self-doubt that she has externalised it into a separate presence – Netty. Netty is youthful, slim, confident, and doesn’t hesitate to remind Ann what a waste of space she is. Ann’s chagrin is further fuelled by a workplace in which she is stagnating.

When Ann’s boss Jeremy announces his upcoming retirement, and his entitled young protégé Leo appears set to replace him, Ann ponders taking the bold step of applying for Jeremy’s job.
Ann flees to some nearby woods, seeking solitude to submit her CV. Netty finds her, shatters her peace and scorns her ambition. Ann finally comes out fighting, resulting in Netty’s violent demise.

Free from Netty’s shackles, Ann applies for Jeremy’s job, to the delight of department head Amit, who spurs Ann on to create some much needed change.

Ann gets the promotion. Leo sulks. Netty rots in hell.
